About

Steve Sample

Steve Sample was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. During his sophomore year at Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, he bought a used Sears & Roebuck guitar from a friend for twenty-five bucks.

As it turned out, his friend didn’t own a guitar. In the end, Steve’s friend was awarded a five dollar commission, his friend’s brother (the rightful owner) swept the rest, and Steve kept the guitar.

He attended Texas A&M University where he struggled to learn cover songs on that same cheap guitar. So, one night he decided to write an original song. A fire was lit and a hobby soon turned into passion.

Several years after graduating Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2000, he discovered Music City. Today, he continues to make frequent trips to Nashville with two simple goals: Write the next song better than the last, and to meet, connect, and write with other writers that share the passion to impact people through words and music.

Steve believes that everything we want in life can be found by being ourselves, doing what we love, and sharing what we do. Living Creative Side Out, he hopes that others will find inspiration and motivation to discover and pursue their own authentic path in life.

Steve lives in The Woodlands, Texas with his wife, Michelle, and their three boys, Cade, Blake, and Owen. He wakes up at 4:40 A.M. every morning to steal two hours to write before the day erupts into the beautiful chaos that is life. He is a songwriter. He is an author. He is a storyteller.

As for that cheap guitar … while it survived a shady business transaction and college life, it was no match for a two-year-old. It now hangs in disrepair in Steve’s home studio surrounded by other guitars that literally cost 100 times more than he paid for that first one. It may not have any songs left in it, but Steve is forever grateful to that cheap guitar for leading him to the rich path he was meant to walk living Creative Side Out.
